let's light it up

Few pictures from when my father and I went to Sector 18, Chandigarh a few days before Diwali. Those of you who don't know Sector 18 is the hub for buying stuff for Diwali, especially lights, to decorate your house. While for most people Diwali is a big deal, my family is pretty low key about it and this is probably the first time in all my years of existence that I actually went to a market when it was bursting with people.

Film-making, Part Trois

As a culmination to the film-making workshop, I got to shoot a film starring me! I had written a script on 'swimming', something I am and will always be very passionate about.

A water baby through and through, I learnt to swim when I was 7 and since then it has been an important part of who I am.

When we had amazing coaching facility in school, I did extremely well and won quite a few accolades but as is the plight of most sportswomen and men in India, I could not really imagine a career in swimming unless I move abroad which is a huge leap. Alas, my dream of winning an Olympic gold would forever remain that, a dream.

My collection of three experimental shots showing beautiful light flares.

To hold your hand is like sliding sunshine into my pocket.

On the Move - A Short Abstract FIlm

The same Film-making Workshop, that I talked about in my last post, held a WhatsApp film-making competition wherein all of us were to send 3 mobile made short clips on our WhatsApp film-making group and each one of us was to compile them into a short film of our own and send the film on the group. Our instructor then went through our films and in the next class, a winner was to be announced.

Tiny Steps Towards Film-making

Recently I joined a film-making workshop at school. Our first assignment was to get short shots of any random thing from a different perspective, something we don't usually see when we look around.

The next task was to compile them and create a short clip.

It's a Sky Full of Stars

In 3rd Grade, we were introduced to poetry in school and then had to write a rhyming poem of our own on 'Stars', I think.
So here is my first poem, written in 2008/2009 when I was 8 or 9 years old. I don't intend to be a braggart, but the poem is pretty darn good. Hence, sharing it!

Blockbuster

Somewhere in mid-2016, around May, my two friends, Kadambari and Shanaya, and I decided to participate in a movie-making competition called 'Reel to Real'. We were to make a short movie of about 5 minutes and the theme was to be 'What If".

After a few hours of brainstorming whilst sitting in the library (actually an excuse to bunk our classes 😈) we came up with a basic plan for our movie. Rather than focus on a single 'what if', we decided to focus on multiple 'what ifs' from a child's point of view. With the outline in mind, our next task was to find a willing actor 🙇 .

I persuaded one of our good friends, Akshit, to play the lead, and we set out to shoot our movie. And Oh my Lord, what a hell of a ride it was!

Tennis Lessons

I learnt to tackle my problems head-on, just as I hit the balls.

To face anything in life, just like I face my opponents.

To run ahead and grab opportunities, like running up to the net and finishing the point with a swift volley.

Giving my hundred percent in everything, as I do in hitting an ace.

Rhythm and Moods

my moods change like the phases of the Moon
waning and waxing in the tempo of its tune
painting my sky like the Sun's hues in June
